Dana 35 question

What size is the retaining screw on the pinion shaft??? I've tried every wrench in my tool box, and nothing fits. 6mm is too small, 7mm too big. 1/4 too small, 5/16 too big. I don't even want to think about breaking out the vise grips.

Use a 12-pt. 1/4" socket which will work. By the way, that is the cross-shaft bolt you're working on, not the pinion shaft.

When you have a choice, buy American.

Thanks Jerry! A bit of worry, though. I looked everywhere, even with a magnet. The old C-clip is MIA. You'd think there would at least be some pieces somewhere!
New one is in, and ready to put the cover back on. I ran a magnet everywhere I could reach. Not a trace.
