Daytime Running Lights

Has anyone activated daytime running lights on their TJ? I'm from Canada, where all cars built after 1990 have them stock. Besides liking them (they are really great in the early morning or evening when it is dark, plus I forget to turn of the headlights if I turn them on instead), if I import it when I move back I have to have them anyway, is there a relay to install or is it something more serious.

It's a 2004 TJ Sport, 6cyl 5 speed.

You have daytime running lights? And were they stock when you bought it?

My jeep is Canadian and has factory daytime running lights. There is a motion sensor mounted under the hood on the driver side of the firewall, this triggers the DRL's to come on when the vehicle moves. The motion sensor is a little box about the size of a beeper with about 5 wires coming out of it, the wires go right into the rest of the engine harness so i don’t know exactly were they go. I also have a fuse behind the glove box that says Solenoids and DRL.

I have been trying to disable my DRL's (i don’t like them, and i don’t live in Canada). I tried pulling my fuse that said solenoids DRL. this worked the lights went out but also my air conditioning went out at the same time (the jeep was running with ac on when i pulled the fuse). So I’m guessing that the solenoids fuse is the power for the relays under the hood witch include AC, but there is no DRL relay under the hood... The reason i explain all of this is to help you figure out if your TJ has factory DRL's, if its not Canadian i don’t think it will.

Anyway i figured out how to disable them through a link in another thread. Ended up having to cut a certain wire coming out of the motion sensor and no more DRL's. So as far as adding DRL's to your TJ it sounds like it would be quite involved.
