death wobble by stabilizer

so I had the death wobble in my jeep. went all over the internet, shops, was told by everyone it's not your steering stabilizer. I went through everything, EVERYTHING! alignment, wheel balance, tire checks, a drop pitman arm that was never installed with the lift, ball joints, mounts, control arms, track bar, steering box, steering shaft and knuckles everything everybody told me to go through.....so....today I took off my steering stabilizer and guess what!!!! I replaced it.....and guess what!!! well at least it's finally gone live and learn....live and learn. $38 at napa thats all it took. my advice, for $38 it's the cheapest component to replace so start there, then work your way up.

I had the dreaded DW. I ended up buying a new Track Bar and Steering Stabilizer. At 50mph it started. At 55 it was gone... It is fixed now. It is not just Jeeps that get the DW. It IS a Chrysler thing.

Actually, it happens to any solid front axle vehicle is control arms. Not just a Chrysler issue.

This may be true, but it is Predominantly a Chrysler issue. The others seem to happen with a lift. Chryslers seem to happen lifted or stock. Google Death Wobble GM, Ford and Chrysler...Jeep, Dodge.

Ive been chasing mine for the better part of 6 mos. About a month ago we thought we had it finally beat with a new stabilizer and new tie rod. The new stabilizer would help the jeep recover, but now its starting again, and gradually getting worse (as the stabilizer gets worn out, I presume).

So next step for me will be to take it in (again) and have someone look at the track bar (there is a round hole right next to where the track bar is currently installed. Im thinking whoever did the lift just cheaped out and moved the track bar, rather than replacing it with an adjustable one). Also might dump the $50 for a 'Heavy Duty' stabilizer, in the hopes that it will at least last longer.

I love my jeep, especially in the nice weather, but this DW sure is frustrating....I've been about ready to trade the damn thing in on more than one occasion as I keep throwing time and money at the DW problem.

In my experience stabalizers jst mask the real problem.

did you check the balancing on your tires?
