did some wheeling the other day and a rock kissed my oil pan pretty well. im in arkansas for the week and wont be back in dallas for another week.
i just drove it from hot springs to fayetteville, like a 3 hour drive. my gauges were fine and i didnt hear any knocks from the cab but due to the size of the dent im still a little sketched out
can i wait till im back in dallas or should i do this here in arkansas tonight.
i cant upload a picture off of this phone but ill try in a minute off of my girlfriends phone
yea photo isnt working but i believe these jeeps have a upper and lower pan (lower pan being the metal one with drain plug in it, i would be careful to say the least oil pickup coulda been bent who knows without seeing it. myself wouldnt risk it but thats without seeing the size of dent
Hot springs to Fayetteville is a pretty long way and through hilly terrain. If you made that trip without issue and there are no leaks, I'd say you're fine. Just my two cents.
Mines been dented for a year or two, just watched the oil pressure and nothing funny happened, so I've been driving it that way for 20k miles. I have a skid plate to put on but I sort of want to change the pan first... more than likely though I'll just put the skid plate on before my next off-road trip and will forget the pan is even dented.
okay so ive been at it all morning, we took the oil pan out and banged the dent out, everything looks good, im buying a gasket, filter and some new oil as speak.
sad thing is i changed my oil right before i went on this trip hahah
