Defrost Issues

Ok, I have done a lot of research on the forums and people report this problem a lot. I am not very good with fixing mechanical problems so I took mine to a mechanic. He told me my (forgot what its called, but the part that directs the airflow) is broken. And he wanted $450 to fix it!!!

Is there anyone who can help me find the right part and walk me throught the repair myself?

You went to the wrong mechanic - What is the problem? What jeep do you have?

haha I thought I might have gone to the wrong one. I guess there is a plastic arm or something that turn the panel that deflects air to the vents or defrost, well the plastic are broke. I have found threads talking about it, but nothing really on how to fix it, or on how to order the part.

Sent this in a PM to you... but figured I might as well post here. It will not switch to the defrost vents, and no air blows out of the center dash vents. I took it to a mechanic who said the blend door was broken, but $450 seems like a lot to fix that.

Sorry I am a noob and not good at explaning theese things.

no problem, and if it is a blend door that price is about right. its all in labor, most likely the whole dash comes out to access the blend door.

Try Rigby Auto out if you need a mechanic. I have had them work on other vehicles (not my TJ) and have always treated me right.
