differential case

i am going to put new gears and a locker in my jeep but i would need a new case becuase i have 3.07. if i was going to get an OX locker, would it come with a case? if so then would i just have to just get the ring and pinion and the locker?

What axle's?

With the 3.07's I assume D30 front and D35 rear?

You will need a new carrier if you go lower than 3:55. Not the axle housing.

The Ox has the carrier integrated with it. You'll need to pick up a new R&P and match the Ox with it. I forget what the break point it; there are two sizes, one will hold up to 4.10 (I think) and the other goes from 4.56 on up. Best to look up what the carrier size break point is (I just don't remember).

From there you'll attach the ring directly to the Ox. Get ready for it...it is one heavy mother! (Mine was ~ 80 lbs just for the Ox -- putting it in and out of my D60 suk'd!)

Well if your putting an OX in then it will completley replace the case and you wont need a new carrier. The new locker includes the carrier. Other full case lockers include Detorit, Eaton, and ARB lockers. All decently good choices depending on what your looking for but the OX is a good way to go so Id stick with that. The break is at 4.10 like rketr said. So depending on what gearing your going with get the appropriate locker. Then all you need is your new R&P's (you have to change the gears in both axles so they match otherwise you'll have stuff will et busted up real fast!) and install kits (all the bearings, races, etc that you need to set up new gears) and your good to go. But keep in mind if your gonna go above that break then you'll need to either buy a locker for the front to match or a new carrier to hold the numerically higher gears. Here's a link to what Id suggest if your going to lock the rear D35 as its not the greatest axle for big tires and a locker:

This also replace the shafts with 30 spline (stock shafts are only 27 spline) cromoly ones so they are much stronger than stock and you have better chance of not busting it up while wheelin. One thing you'll also need with any OX locker though is the cable to actuate the locker, so dont forget that!

Yep, absolutely the Ox Locker is a full case (carrier) locker so no separate carrier/case is needed. Same with the Detroit Locker, ARB Air Locker, Eaton E-Locker, Auburn ECTED, and a few others. Only lunchbox lockers like the Aussie, Lockright, No-Slip, or EZ-Lockers are not full case lockers so they do not replace the carrier, they are inserted into the existing carrier (aka case).

Nope, the Dana 44 was strictly an extra-cost option for even the Sahara.

It might be worth while to find a used rear Dana 44 with possible correct gears you need in it from a salvage yard-that fits you yr model. That way you get a better/stronger rear axle assembly with a factory locker and (if possible correct gears). You would need to change the front ring and pinions to match the rear. 33" tires may explode your D-35. If you intend to keep it, I would put the beefier 30 spline axles, spiders,etc and leave it an 'open carrier"-and just put a locker in the Dana 30 front. That combination actually works pretty good. Just my 2 cents.
