Disc Brakes?

I was crawling around under mine ('99) checking stuff, and wondered, Hey I wonder if anyone has changed the rear brakes from drum to disc???

I'm still wondering if this might be a good idea. I do like disc brakes, easy to work on and all.

Any comments?

IM planning on it.I got a 97 that Im going to run 35,s on.Last year I replaced everything brake wise front and rear. Was thinking about converting then when I went from 31,s to 33,s.I see disc kits now for like 600 bucks, didnt see any that cheap last year.Braking is just O.K with 33,s with 35,s...NAhhh.

I converted my 97 over to rear disc.I got mine from Ebay, they were off of a 99 Grand Cherokee.I got the backing plates, both calipers with hoses, both rotors and same as new pads for $89 with shipping and all.Normally that set up from a wrecked Cherokee runs around $150-200 I just kept throwing in $100 bids on everyone I seen and after about 3 months finally won one.

As long as you have a factory rear end it does not matter. It will not work with the ford rear end but that should have had disc to start with. Also FYI I thought I would mention when you do this convertion you have to tack the caliper hose retainer bracket to the spring perch.

My disc brakes came attached to an 8.8" Ford rear with 4.10s and limited slip so I killed two birds and then some with one stone and got rid of drums and the Dana 35 ,
