Angry distributor gear trouble!

Has anyone else had problems with their distributor drive gear with premature wear? Mines an 06 4.0L & 30,850 miles & the gear is showing wear. Just wondering if someone has come up with to fix this problem? Any help is greatly appreciated! Don't like it just setting in the garage!

There is a major problem with '05 and '06 4.0L engines having that issue. I'm not sure what the fix is but you're not alone. Apparently the gear is made from too soft of a material and it fails. There's a huge ongoing thread on it at Chrysler is paying to install a new cam (2006 owners should read this) -

I have read all 40 pages on that forum but it seems no one has quite figured the problem out. I guess I'm going to get another gear for it. The problem with this is everyone is saying you have to drill a new hole for the roll pin. This worries me because of the timing. Does this gear have anything to do with the timing? Or as long as the wheel inside the housing doesn't move I'm ok? I used a allen wrench in the dowel hole like I read to do. I'd like to have a SBC in there but I wasn't figuring on doing that till I wore this one out. Thanks Jerry I value your advice & everyone else's!
