Okay, so I have a 2002 jeep wrangler x. I want to do a steering box upgrade but I'm not sure exactly what I need? Should I do a Durango box? Or something else? And if I do a Durango box or other box, what do I have to do to make it work? What has to change (besides the box it's self). Any brackets or connections? I've never done a steering box but my dad has so he can help me. Also what year Durango box do I need? Or if I get a different kind what year? Thanks for the help!
Actually I was wrong. I recall reading a thread while back but dont remember if it had to do with the snowplow or not, seems like it didnt.
However the difference between the snow plow and non snowplow is that the non snowplow will take less turns of the wheel to go from lock to lock then the snow plow option.
Snow plow box has takes a little more turns of wheel to go full right to full left and has extra pressure fittings that you would only need with a hydraulic winch or hydro boost brake conversion but they can be plugged
Other difference is many claim the snow plow box has a cheeper price
Get a stock box ported or buy one from West TX Offroad, or go with the PSC version. The durango box is a downgrade as the lower shaft rides on a bushing since it came from a vehicle with an IFS. A bearing (like stock) is stronger and can handle the abuse a solid axle throws at it.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
