Don't have a Ball joint press

Please help. I need to change ball joints but can't get the proper tools. Namely the ball joint press. I belive in doing things right but I'm in gemany and can't find a press. Could I bear the old ones out and use a socket around the lip of the ball joint to install the new ones. Or will this cause damage. Does anyone have any other ideas for ball joint removal and installation?

Beat em out with a hammer. Softly tap the new ones in with a socket. It's rough but it can be done.

Go to the local auto store and rent one. Most automotive stores have them to rent.

Otherwise sockets and a BFH (Big F'in Hammer)

Check out Harbor Freight. They are cheap and work reasonably well.Harbor Freight Tools

Do you have access to a torch? If so put the ball joints in the freezer over night and then take the torch and heat up the knuckle til it's glowing red. Remove said ball joint and drop it right in. Might need a bit of massaging to get it in all the way, but the heat expansion of the knuckle and the contraction of the frozen ball joint will do most of the work for you.
