If both nuts are completely broken off, then you just need to lift the doors. Please keep in mind that "just need to lift the doors" will likely entail multiple shots of PB Blaster, and rocking the door in and out while pulling up for about 15 frustrating minutes if they've never been off before and the bolts were in that bad of shape.

Also, save enough energy that when they are almost out that you have enough energy to be in control of the door when removing them so that the bolt protruding from the door hinge doesn't get intimate with the paint on your tub.

so i got them off no problem, all 4 nuts broke off though. So now when I go to put them back on there will be nothing holding them on except the hinge pin that's it. I know they wont fall off but I have no nuts to hold them on with any more. 2006 and all 4 nuts broke off wtf? Anyone else drive around with there doors on with no nuts?

From what I hear around here, shouldn't be a problem as long you live outside the ghetto. I believe the only real purpose they serve is to stop people who SHOULDN'T be taking off your doors.

Yup...I haven't even had my doors off yet, but I neutered my hinges recently...removed the nuts using lots of PB Blaster and then hacked off the exposed threads since they were rusted. If you live in the ghetto and someone notices...you may end up permanently doorless, but for most of us, we shouldn't have to worry too much.

The usual reason those studs break off when removing the nuts is because the nut was turned the wrong direction. I am assured you know which way to turn nuts, lefty-loosey righty-tighty, but when they are upside down like they are on the door hinge, more than one Jeeper has twisted them the wrong way & snapped the stud off.

Since the nuts are off, there is nothing holding them on so simply swing the door back & forth slightly as you lift up & the door will lift up out of the hinges. No worries on the nuts not being there, my door's hinge nuts have not been on my Jeep in 14 years.

And adkjoe, if you haven't been paying attention...they opted to take his whole Jeep instead of just the doors.

If you cant get them off from pulling up and wiggleing them, get a length of wood..2x4 whatever you have lying around. Open your door up and wedge the peice of wood underneath your door, and on the top of your tubs rocker section, and pry up on it. That should do the trick, and the wood will not harm your paint on the bottom of the door or your tub.

Just be sure to place the jack/wood on the end closest to the hinges and be very careful not to bend your pins. If anyone were to go this route, I'd stop every jack pump or so and try to finish the job by hand.

Thanks guys, once the nuts were off the doors lifted right out no problem. I had them off all last summer this wasn't the first time. There pretty doors but I don't think they should reproduce there better off neutered.

Come on now sentenced. It's one thing to make fun of a guy for driving his Jeep into a giant lake, but Jerry had his rig stolen. That shit's just not cool.

Bought my jeep without nuts...still running without. The way I see it is if somebody wants to steal my doors, a few nuts aren't gonna stop em. Plus, somebody that would actually steal jeep doors (or anything for that matter) probably don't know that they're only held on by nuts and that most are running around neutered.
