drilling into the hard top

I have a question about drilling hole in the hard top. First, has anyone done it, and second, if I attach eye bolts with the wide fender washers (with rtv between them), do you think it would hold the weight of suspending it? Just trying to build a better mouse trap on removing my hard top.

I've seen picture where people have done that. Not sure what size washers or other material they used. If and when I ever have my hard top I would probably do the same.

I drilled holes into mine for a roof rack I used to have and I regret having done that. Once I stopped using the rack, I had holes in the hard top that are hard to patch. Now the patched holes look bad. I wouldn't drill it, I'd just use two 2x4 pieces of wood under it to lift it up and support it while it's off the Jeep.
