drive shaft

I have a stripped bolt on my drive shaft. Its a 5/16 bolt tried the bolt gripper socket for that size and was to small. Size up is to big. There's only a little room to get a tool in

Which bolts? The bolts on the axle end are metric IIRC, and are also something like grade 12.9. If it's the bolts on the axle side your better off cutting the heads off and trying to extract the thread.
