Question Drive shaft play

I have a 2000 Wrangler that has a 4 inch rough country lift with a 1.5" lowering kit. After we installed the lift I noticed a clicking noise when starting out in either forward or reverse. It looks like there is play in the transfer case or the rear diferential because the drive shaft seems to catch when starting out in reverse or forward.
How should I diagnose this problem. Seems to me that if I pull the shaft that there will be a certain amount of play on each end....how much is acceptable. Any repair suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks
Pete

None is acceptable. If there is play the easiest thing to start with is the u-joints. That should take care of the play.
