Driveline knocking/vibration

I have 97 tj with a sye and Tom woods cv driveshaft. I have a knocking noise when I start off and it gets faster as I go. If a put it in neutral it goes away. I took the rear shaft off and drove around in four wheel and no noise. The cv and rear ujoint "seem" fine. What could I be missing? Thanks to all that respond

What mods do you have done? What size lift? What SYE? TT? give us a little more info

Do you have adjustable control arms? These are a must with SYE and CV rear shaft... at least rear uppers

WELCOME to WF!

I have an advance adapters sye, it's been in for 3 years with no problems. I have adjustable uppers and lower control arms ARB air lockers and 35 's. I guess my real question is could my cv be bad even if it doesn't feel loose?

Ok. I have an update. I called Tom woods and told him my about my knocking noise, and he told me it was most likely the centering ball in cv joint of the rear driveshaft. I took it apart to find that my needle bearings in the centering ball were totally gone. I couldn't find Spicer parts in my area so Napa cross referenced the part number to their house brand. 38 bucks for a ball rebuild kit. And all is good.
