Angry Driver's Door Dilemma

Ok, so I've had my '02 Wrangler X for almost 10 years now. Lately, I've had issues with the driver's door: I go to open the door from the inside, and there's a *snap* and I'm not able to open the door. I have to open my window and open it from the outside. My mechanic says it's very common with Jeeps because a flimsy plastic clip often breaks causing this. In the past 6 months, it has happened to me 3 times!!! Any suggestions as to how I can permanently fix this? It's driving me nuts!!!

Half doors or full? Half doors are very easy to take apart, I don't know about full doors. Anyways the likely culprit is the spring that is in the latch inside the door. Mine broke, and I fixed it, although not the "right way" as it's a little bit hard to find a replacement spring. I think they do exist though. I just didn't need one. Once you pop the door open it should be easy to identify if this is your exact issue or what. I might have pictures but don't have time to dig them up right now.

They are the half-doors. So it's a spring? This should hopefully point me in the right direction. Thanks, Ryan! I really appreciate it.
