driveshaft problem!

after an intense day of mudding, i was on the way home on the highway when i smelled something like rubber burning up. i kept smelling it until something started rattling really bad. so that when i pulled over. I crawled under my jeep and took a look and the big disk that ive seen before where my driveshaft comes out of the tranfer case had come off and slid down the driveshaft and stoped on the yoke and was rattling on it. There is a small wear mark on my skid and i know that the skid and this disk were really close ever since i did the motor mount lift. I guess it got caught on the skid and wore that bushing out till is got loose and slid of. What is this disk and how do i repare it?????

It a harmonic balancer to limit vibrations. I would just take it off. TJ's for a long time never came with them.

JB weld won't work, it's a harmonic vibration damper for your driveshaft. The only real way to fix it is to replace it. I would use a grinder or a BIG hammer to clearance your skid plate, and then replace it. You'll need a special puller to remove it, but it can be had at autozone for about $15. Hope you get it fixed fast, good luck.

1999 XJ Four door, mostly stock for now, but I am in the process of building a custom plate bumper.

Hey upinar, I've got the stock one that came off of my 03 TJ if you need it. I didn't need it after I installed my SYE. Just cover shipping and its yours. You don't need a puller to get it off. I used 3 long bolts (can't remember what size?) and got it off. Tom Woods has a good write up on his site about this.
