Electrical Gremlin

Hey all.

Washed the jeep yesterday, did nothing different. I go to a wash your own type place with a power sprayer. Did the usual run around under the fenders and everywhere. I don't wash the engine or raise the hood at all.

After I was done I noticed my left indicator was blinking super fast. Figured something got wet and thought after it dried it might go back to norm, which it did.

But I also noticed that now when I turn on the left indicator the radio (stock) and odometer blink on and off in sync with the indicator. Also, when I apply the brakes the odometer and radio lights turn off (sound still works tho).

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

98 tj se 2.5 almost everything stock

Sometimes after washing the Jeep my right signal will blink really fast. Once things dry out a little, it returns to normal. I know that my front marker light sockets are corroded and need to be replaced.

I figure it's just a short due to moisture getting into the socket but I've had no other symptoms as you describe. I've got nothing for you. Hope you figure it out and post the answer/solution here.

Ha. Yeah its super weird. Thanks for the responses.

I'm wondering if its the wires under or near my left fender since its my left indicator. But have NO idea why the odometer and radio are effected too! Lol!

Thanks again.

Ok. So the blinking stopped. But now my left indicator just stays on.

Also. Did some shopping on my way home. Got back in the jeep and noticed that my dash and radio lights were on, but really low. With the key OUT. Overhead light was not on tho just cluster and radio.

Got home pulled in my parking spot, opened the door and the dash lights turned off like normal when I took the key out....

Super weird, man....

Turns out it was a bad rear bulb. Figured it out by switching bulbs and the symptom switched sides. Replaced all rear bulbs and all is well.

Right at the same time tho my battery died. Got a new one. So I should be good for a while lol!
