Exclamation engine issue

this started happening about a month or two ago from just happening once or twice to almost every day. I'll start up my jeep and let it warm up a bit before i go driving and the idle will shoot up to 1500-2000 rpm's, the only way to get it to stop before was to apply pressure to the throttle to close it but it doesn't seem to move and it would stop. now once i remove pressure it goes back up so now the only way to get it to stop is to shut it off and turn it back on. but sometimes it will just go away. then another issue just popped up to day while i was doing 45mph down the road. the throttle seemed to blip twice about 200rpms, i have no check engine light. please help

edit: this will also keep up when i'm driving as well. it would be like putting it in drive holding the break and hitting the throttle slightly.

as far as your idling problem, it sounds as though there may be some gunk around your throttle butterfly, keeping it from closing all the way. cheap and easy way to see if this is it would be to pull your intake tube off the top of the trottle body and hold the buttlerfly open with your finger while wiping around the inside of it with a rag soaked pretty good with carb. cleaner. don't use anything to scrape the gunk off as a scratch/nic in the metal could cause bigger problems. after cleaning it would be a good idea to reset the ecm's adaptive learning control as follows: remove the POSITIVE battery cable and touch it to the negative side for 30 seconds. reconnect the cable, turn ingnition on(engine off) turn headlights on then back off, turn ignition off. after that it will re-learn the best idle/fuel curve for your driving conditions.

not sure if this will fix your problem but it's cheap and easy like i said
