I have enjoyed reading posts up to know and have never had a reason to ask for help ..until now ...so here is my question..
I have a very clean 1997 TJ Wrangler with the 4 Cyl. engine ....which is becoming very "tired". If I merge onto the freeway, I need 3/;4 mile or better to get up to highway speeds ...and have nearly been run over by oncoming semis! What I would like to do is purchase the 4.0L AMC engine that was also an option in 1997 ..I think it's a straight 6 cyl. ...I would also replace the auto transmission with the 3 speed 32RH that I found was installed with this engine in 1997. Other than the motor mounts..which I know would have to be changed, is this a vaiable plan of action? I have read of other engine swaps that have been done and this seems like the most practical approach. I would like to make this a 'seamless" as possible. Any input would be appreciated. Thx!!
