Engine Vibration

It doesn't do it everytime, but when I'm pulling my 5'x8' trailer with lawn equipment on it or if I'm not pulling anything and just starting from a complete stop going up hill at a slight angle I am getting very bad "shaking and/or vibration" from under the hood it feels like. It feels like my engine or transmission is about to fall out. The thing is, it only does it under the initial load and I have to let off the gas and clutch a little bit for it to smooth out before I get moving. It never does this when I'm on a flat road and not pulling something. FYI, I had new engine put in about six months ago and it never did this before then. Your first thought is that I should probably go to the guy that installed the engine right?? Well, he's a freakin screw ball and if I knew then what I know now I would not have went to him in the first place. So now I just learn and do everthing that I can myself. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Possibly a mount going bad or a nut has come lose on a mount after the install.

Yeah I agree with Crj, check the motor mounts over really well, that's what it sounds like to me also!

Wave vote////

Check your motor mounts and trans mount. You might also want to take a look at the universals on the drive shaft. A slight vibration is magnified under load conditions.

Ever go through deep water or get your jeep stuck in some watery muck? I had my rear end under water for a bit and some water got in and slowly started to destroy it. eventually the axle bearings ceased up and then started to spin with the axle and race and i ended up with play that only got worse. this felt similar to a u-joint going out when i would take off or tow, but would smooth out with speed. Needless to say the whole rear end had to be replace housing and all. The race had worn a grove where it sat at least 2-3mm deep. the crazy thing is that you never would have known with out opening it up and pulling the axshafts. but that's what happened to me.

I'm gonna check the mm and tm first as it seems like they would be the easiest to replace i think??? With the u-joints that are being mentioned, even with the vibration coming from the towards the front could this still be the problem with the jeep not being in 4wd. I say this cuz the front drive shaft shouldnt be in motion when not locked in right?? Thanks for the input, I can never have enough.

No the front driveshaft still spins in 2wd, but it does not connect to the transmission in 2wd. Check your mounts and U joints, shouldnt take but 20 minutes to check every U joint and motor / trans mount.

I did a visual on my motor mounts, trans mounts and the u-joints and everything looked good. I'm not really sure how to tell if any of these things mentioned would need to be replaced?? Everything looked fine as far as i could tell(no breakage, cracked mounts or loose bolts).
