I've heard that borla and banks make some quality products but the price is a bit steep on both of them.

Borla is junk. They crack just as bad as the stock manifold. Even shops here in town are not carrying them anymore because of this. Yeah, it's warranteed for life, but it's a bitch to change and who wants to replace one every year?

In my opinion and this is only based on my jeep. There is not enough of a cost to performance ehancement ratio on buying a "Header" as opposed to a replacement manifold with expansion joints. I have been running an Ebay manifold for over a year that I think I paid like 75 bucks shipped. With no problems what so ever.

you just answered the question that I posted in the tech. section. I've cracked 3 headers in the past 3 years, and am currently running a Banks, which is a piece of junk. I've sent them 3 e-mails with no reply's. and I was thinking of going with a Borla header.

This just boggles my little mind on why the exhaust manifold would NEED to be replaced on something that's 10 yrs old or less.

THe YJ is going strong at 12 years and don't feel the need to replace the manifold?

Takes planned obsolesence to a new level!

There was a design flaw in the first couple of years for TJs where engine torque would cause the header (it's not a manifold) to crack. They re-engineered the header to include flexible steel bellows (like an accordian) at the two points they could crack at and it's no longer a problem. I had two of the original design headers installed on my '97 under warranty to replace the original cracked header but they all cracked too. Once they finally installed the newer design header, no more cracks. It's been fine for 130,000 miles now.

I remeber on my first car (maxima) there was a flexible pipe right after the catalistic converter so it can flex under pressure and the headers wont take all the beating.
