BLUF: My Toe-In was measured at 1.25"!!! Is this the worst ever? Did I screw up? What kinda torch do i need to unfreeze the tie rod, and where can I buy it?
I've been soaking up what I can since buying my rig back last October and one of the things I've been trying to get acquainted with lately is suspension/steering setup. I bought the rig with a 4" lift and 35's already on it (yeah yeah, learn from my mistake) without knowing much (read: nothing at all) about Jeeps (except that I really wanted one).
My front tires had been wearing pretty unevenly before I rotated them a few months ago and noticed they were WAY overfilled (something like 40 psi in some of them) and unevenly filled at that (I think one of them was around 30).
Finally got around to measure and adjust my toe this evening and I was shocked at the result:
Front Measurement: 61 9/16"
Back Measurement: 62 3/4"
That's about 1.25" toe in!!!
So I tried to use the popular alignment method link to set my toe in but couldn't get the tie rod to budge. I have blasted it with PB Blaster and tried like hell with some vice grips but they kept slipping. Going to keep Blasting it every day and go after it with a pipe wrench this weekend.
If I need to get a torch to heat the ends up, what do you guys suggest? Where can I buy this? I have never used one before, but I can't imagine it's too difficult.
