Exhaust

What Type of exhuast systems or mufflers ya'll running on your I-6? What's it sound like? Thinking about the Flowmaster super 44 series but also considering magnaflow. It is a daily driver, but it needs to sound a little better on the trail.

Thanks

Rubicon J.

if you wanna be cheap cut out muffler put normal exhaust tube in its place.. next step up is cherry bomb glasspack.. then is magna flow mufflers.. then is cat back system.. ive heard gibson, borla, and flowmaster.. they all sound great

Yeah I live in a Safety/Emissions state, so no straight pipe for me. This exhuast will only be temporary. I say that becuase I usually go with Magnaflow first and then later switch to a flowmaster. This is my 3rd wrangler exhuast and ?? number of other exhuasts. Wanted to see what others thought about what they are running or what not. When I worded my thread should have stated all of this from the get go.

Thanks for the responses.

i'm running the banks cat back on my '99 and it has a nice tone to it that i like, not too loud not too quiet. i suggest is if you were to do a cat back set up try to find one that brings the stander 2.25" pipe up to a 2.50".

muffler??

I bought my TJ and it came with a Magnaflow.I always thought it sounded cheezy. So I went to Flowmaster website and plugged in my vehicle info and listen to different soundbites to choose from. Pretty cool. I ended up with Flowmaster pro 40 series I think. Very cool sound with the 6 cyl

Flowmaster hushpower muffler w/o a cat. It sounds awesome, very good tone at idle to mid rpm then quiets down a bit.

X2 on the hushpower by flowmaster. had to go that route because the size and shape allowed for the long arm clearance, and the sound is nice too.

I have the super 44....I love it compared to stock but I wish it were louder. The tone is great but it is no where as loud as the super 40 I have behind a Ford V10...any louder and my wife would hate it...we are both happier than when it was stock...I am still looking for train horns for it though...she wants them so she can really be heard on the street.

Train horns sounds like a great plan. I have been looking at a super 44. I have heard good things about them. Now you say it's not as loud as the super 40, are you talking about the exterior or interior? This jeep is still my daily driver so...

Ive got the dynamax exhaust on my jeep, and it sounds pretty good. It doesn't really get the full effect going until you hit about 2k or better rpm's.. but neveretheless it does sound pretty good.

The Super 40 is louder mainly due to motor and being a dual 3" muffler. It just flows more. The 44 should be louder than the 40 but being a smaller engine and smaller pipe. A turn down would make it louder as would dual outs.

As for the train horns, I have some in my Excursion, but the horn will not fit into the Jeep. They are the size of a large shoe box. Smaller and they sould poor, but larger and they do not fit into small vehicles.
