factory muffler hitting rear DS

OK so i went ahead and ordered a direct fit factory muffler for a 1997 TJ 2.5 L4 and compared to the one i had is bigger and because of that im hitting the driveshaft. any thoughts on a interchangeable one. Please no aftermarkets one. I like stock noise not a racer kinda noise.

A direct fit factory replacement should be the same size and not give you clearance issues. Is it possible that you ordered the wrong one for your Jeep? Or that they sent you the wrong one?

This Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler is a direct factory replacement and should fit with no problems.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I have a Dynomax and think it sounds very much like stock. A tad deeper, but not a noisy ricer sound. No clearance problems either.

I order most of my stuff but I wouldn't order a replacement muffler that way. You can go to a small independent muffler shop and have them install exactly what you want without problem, and you'll likely save $$$ too. I recommended an "independent" muffler shop because chain shops like Midas have quotas to make and will overcharge you and likely rush the job. If your local shop doesn't have what you need in stock, he can order it for you and you can bet it will be what you want. Face-to-face is better for muffler jobs in my opinion.

I'll second the local muffler shop. Replacing a loud muffler with stock was one of the first things I did to my Jeep. Had the local guys do it, had one in stock, $50 out the door with a lifetime warranty!
