Factory spare tire carrier

I got new tires and my spare wont fit. I didnt think I would have a problem with a 265/75/16.
Has anyone done any modifications to one. Maybe some washers to raise it? Does anyone make a kit? bolts are to short to go thru wheel now too. Does anyone make a single wheel spacer?

When I moved from 30 x 9.5 to 33 x 10.5, I added a 1/2" plate aluminum spacer between my tire carrier and my tail gate. I also added some PVC spacers and longer bolts under the 3rd brake light to raise that up too. Looks stock now with 33s.

You may have to trim the rubber snubbers/spacers down to allow fitment.

I saw a spacer on quadratec web site. I think it was $60. Looks like two plates with some spacers attaching them. I think one plate bolts onto the stock carrier and the other plate holds the tire.

You could make it your self if you really wanted to. But $35.00, that's pretty cheap!

If you have a drill, and any kind of mechanical ability, you can make your own. It's not that hard, and the holes don't even have to be exact. Just big enough that the bolts can pass through the spacer. You can see the spacer in the pic, no trimming of my rubber nubbers was necessary on mine. You can even see the third brake light spacer.

As IslandTJ says, you may have to trim the rubber bumpers down a bit. I did when I got the larger 31 inch tires. Now I have new rims with different back spacing and it is completely different once again. Now I have to extend them. You gotta love it.
