WIX, Mobil 1, or the K&N oil filter.

Those three are very good, my two favorite choices are Purolator's PureOne and AC-Delco's DuraGuard. Of those two, the Purolator PureOne might be slightly better but the DuraGuard did well in tests too. The one to avoid is Fram.

Always get WIX. I've seen the cut open and they have a better anti-backflow valve (is that what you call it?) It is hard to evaluate the actual filter material.

Mobil-1 or K&N, the Mobil-1 are available from Walmart for under $9 and come sealed in plastic. I find that handy as I usually buy them a dozen at a time, got 7 jeeps and they all take the same filter so I keep two complete oil change supplies handy. Gets me strange looks when I go to the register with a dozen 5 quart containers of Mobil-1 oil and filters. I usually hear 'OH crap, they must be having a sale' and immediately you will see a bunch of people make a bee line for the auto section

Jerry I work at a Chevy Dealer and had a verry bad experiance with a Delco on my Jeep, I will never use one again. I have 2 suplliers and I get Mobile 1 or K/N now a little more $ but hell I can't Afford to fix my Engine Becouse of an Oil filter. Delco Changed manufactures about 2yrs ago, so they may or may not be thae same ones you had seen test results on. On a side noe GM is trying to sell the AC Delco line, Cutting costs the only bright side is Gm/Chrysler may bet getting together......Cheap Jeep parts from GM?

LOL

I didn't base my AC-Delco recommendation on the ISO filter test Greg, it was from personal experience. I've been running them and Purolator PureOnes for 30+ years with universally good results. Maybe 40+, I can't remember what I ran that far back.

Alright you two, play nice. Sometimes people have different experiences with the same product. But if Jerry has been useing them for such a long time with overall good results then Id say one bad apple shouldnt spoil the whole bunch. Still, I use K&N oil filters and they deff. get the job done. Not really into their air filters but I have nothing but good stuff to say about the oil filters.

I run the Purolator Pure One (P/N:PL14670). This is not by choice, but the previous owner of my Wrangler was adamant that I continue to run this filter as that is what he ran since new. He actually gave me an additional filter when I purchased the jeep (of which I used to immediately change the oil). When he sent me all of the documentation for my Jeep, he even included a "Cut-out" of the Purolator packaging so the part doesn't slip my mind.. That effort in itself will keep me using them..

On previous vehicles I have used several different brands, but being the inquisitive human that I am; I asked all of my mechanic buddies and they are agreed that the Purolator Pure One is one of the best filters on the market and that I should continue to use it. I was told to stay away from Fram and K&N..

Purolator filters are a little spendy and hard to find at my local retailers, but I did find a decent price at Amazon: Amazon.com: Purolator PL14670 PureONE Oil Filter (Pack of 2): Automotive

You would probably be best served to purchase 3 (2-packs) to get the FREE FREIGHT.. Never hurts to stock up!

My $.02

The Purolator PL14670 part number Timberman so helpfully reminded me of is the exact one I use on both of my Jeeps. I use the AC-Delco Duraguard if they're out of the Purolator. What I hate is the kids working in my local auto parts stores push Fram like crazy and always tell me I should be using Fram instead of what I am buying. Stupid kids.

i have recently found out that fram filters are garbage and the mere word fram is a curse word and banned from this forum. the gist that i got about fram is "it would be more useful for me to use an empty pepsi can than a Fram. I'll get the same filtering abilities with a more refreshing taste"
