hey forum, and merry christmas :)
my original plan was to do a 2sl and a 2 BL but then after doing some researching i found it can become more expensive than doing a 3:1 or even a 4sl after having to buy separate shocks and springs to match the added size because of the spacers yadayadayada. SO i've decided to ask a couple questions.

Q1 What is the highest SL i can do without having to do any other work that may cost me more money, an sye may be ok, i havent decided yet.

Q2 What is so bad about skyjackers??????

Q3 is it true that getting a 3 inch lift really means a 2 inch after its all said and done?

Q4 Short arm vs Long arm vs no arm? (basically, wtf are these and why do i need them)

Q5 did you all have a good Christmas? :)

If you are doing a budget build, look at the zone 4.25" combo. Has a 3" sl and a 1.25 bl. No sye is needed. Also has a 1" mml. I like the way it rides. Haven't put the body lift on yet. I lost one of the pucks.

Many of of love the Zone 4.25" combo just for that reason. For $529 it has everything you need (no SYE needed), and is good quality and a good ride.

Skyjacker tends to be a stiff ride and is Chinese steel...just like Rough Country.

Depends on the lift/brand...Chinese Steel in known to sag quicker. Also if you have a heavy bumper and winch, that is also a factor in the overall gain.

Stick with short arms. Long arm are exposed to the belly are are more prone to hitting rocks, etc. They really don't offer more "flex" than short arms unless they are custom made to optimize the triangulation for a specific build.

I did!

Dex nailed it. I had a thread going about different lifts and there was several people posting pics of their rough country and skyjacker lifts in the trash.

Almost any control arm other than Currie/Savvy or Metal Cloak or any similar type using a JJ type connection is a step down from stock. Stock cannot be used with lifts much over 2 inches because the caster up front and the drive shaft angles in the rear cannot be adjusted and the wheelbase becomes too short. It took me a while to understand why this was all so, in particular the control arms.

I removed the previous owners RC 4 inch lift and installed what is now a full Currie lift on my Jeep. The only thing not Currie are my springs and they are Teraflex because I was given a new set. The difference in ride is staggering and the difference in articulation is huge. It is much more quiet and smooth. The ride and feel and handling on road and off is superior to stock.

so I am in the market for a wrangler. I am trying to stick to a TJ that has a lift. Reason being that if it has mods, it should save me money. However, I am seeing that, in the case of a lift mod, it will save me money if it was done correctly.

Can you guys give prices of 3 inch lifts only hardware and price when labour included?

Maybe I should be a stock and then do the mod my self.
