I"ve been using synthetic (Mobil 1) for years. Never had an oil related issue.

It came standard in my Z06 and my Camaro SS, so I'll be putting it in my wife's
09 Rubi - soon as she gets about 500 miles on it.

Wow, you have some of my favorite dream toys in the stable there.

To the OP, I have recently switched to full syn. and I must say, I will never go back.

I put them in all of my cars now, including my little Toyota daily driver. My Jeep starts up quick, runs smoother, and seems to be quieter.

Your rig will love you for it; GO FULL SYN!!!! If you're leasing and not keeping the Jeep, you could just go conventional oil but if you're keeping your rig, go full SYN man. MOBIL 1 FTW!!!

No.
Give it time to break in before going synthetic.

You'd probably would have to check the owners manual to be definite. But break-in time for a new engine is usually 500 miles. I know some folks who like to wait until after a few oil changes to finally go synthetic. I wouldn't see the point in waiting, really.
The only real difference in synthetic oil is that it lasts longer, holds it's viscosity a little longer in harsh conditions and reduces certain emissions that conventional oils give off. The weight and viscosity ranges are exactly the same as conventional oil.
IMO give your Jeep's new engine the 500 miles to break in, then change over to synthetic.

he has probably already has 3000 miles on his jeep if he's going to do the first oil change so he'll have the break in covered. i say go for the synthetic oil .

YES,, you can change to synth right away,, anyone that says different needs to read up on engine and oil technology changes over the last 10 years.
