First Shock Change - Questions for Experts

Hey there!
I have an unlifted 2005 Wrangler Unlimited (LJ) with 140K on the I6 and I love it!
The shocks at all four corners are original and rusting through.

I am looking for less shudder on the highway so I thought I would add new shocks to the mix - looking for cheap and cheerful OEM ride rather than rock crawling bone shakers.

Enter Advance Auto and the 25% coupon!

Skyjacker Hydro 7000s are meh but have to be better than stock (right?)

I have 11" springs up front and the shock tower is 17" from bracket to bracket.
Their website says that the H7049 is a perfect fit and it shows up three days later.

The H7049 is 16.25 inches long fully compressed..? :censored:

Given my tired springs I would have to put a jack in there to shoehorn them into place.

My question for the Experts:
#1 Have I lost my mind and the H7049 is perfect? How does that work?
#2 When I call them up to ask about this I think the H7016 looks about right (13.5" to 22" range) What do you think?
#3 Should I tell them to take it all back and just buy Gabriels from the zone?

Thanks for your insight - you people rock!

My understanding is your are stock height?

If yes then yeah the H7049 is meant for 6-8 inches of lift in the front. The H7016 for front and H7018 for rear would be your ideal solution. These are meant for 1-3 inches of lift.

I picked up a pair of H7016 on amazon for $17 each last week for my new build.

Some people like the hydros and others don't.. I personally love bilstein 5100 but just can't afford it at this point of the build.

Guys - Thanks for the feedback!
I'm saving my pennies for a wheel/tire/lift combo next summer (not 2017).
These shocks are just to make highway speeds less exciting.
I'm looking at the whole suspension on the cheap this year.
These shocks were $32 a corner after a coupon - I can't pass them up.

Now I just need to get the right sizes...

Thanks!
