I was wondering i had a flowmaster 40 series and i was gonna install it and had some questions for people who had them. Does the 40 take any power away from the inline 6 tj 2004 and is the sound cheesY? Does it have a good sound?????
Usually a Flowmaster will help the engine getting rid of exhaust easier. Never heard of one hurting anything, and never heard one that sounded bad, or cheesy. Nothing but an upgrade.
my buddy has one on his 6cyl and it sounds really good and has had no problems, i have a cherry bomb turbo muffler pretty much for the reason it was cheap and its pretty loud on my 4cyl. kinda sounds like a pissed off hornet but better then any ricer out there
Flowmaster 40s sound good on a TJ - one of my wheeling buds runs one; it's got a real good rumble to it when the engine is loaded, and it's fairly quiet at idle/running speed.
One thing you should ask yourself first though is wether or not you want to hear your engine drone on long trips, or speak up when you're playing in 4lo all day long. Some people don't mind and like being able to hear the engine, other's like the silence so you can hear your surrounds and suspension/tires better; I ran a cherry bomb in the past and switched back to stock, but it's a personal choice.
i just had one installed on my 4.0 straight six tj wrangler...it is the original flowmaster 40 series and it sounds AWESOME! I just got it installed 2 days ago and it sounds so great...it sounds really mean...if anything, you will gain power, but definitely not lose any...if you want to hear the new 40 series ( i have the old one, which i personally prefer because it of course has the old 40 series sound which is a off road sound but also the new 40 series sound which is more of a rumble, two sounds in one) but anyway, if u want to hear the new 40 go to www.exhaustsoundclips.com and search through all the clips and you will find a 4.0 straight six tj wrangler with a flowmaster 40, and you can listen to it and see how it sounds...but once again I personally like the old original 40 series because it has the old 40 series off road sound AND also a rumble which is more of the new 40 series sound...it sounds so MEAN!
Mine sounds great. I'm really happy with it and wouldnt trade it for anything else. I seen no noticable power difference, but it always seems like your going faster if your Jeep is louder!!
i've got one on mine and i think it sounds like a small v8. i love it. if you don't want to hear it on the road, buy a stereo that will overpower the exhaust. that's what i did. mine has aluminized piping after the muffler.
well very good choice..i have the same...and i have heard it on www.exhaustsoundclips.com and it sounds awesome...very nice choice...you will LOVE the sound...let me know how you like it!
no not really...i think there is a muffler called a spintech that is supposed to sound really good...maybe you could go to www.exhaustsoundclips.com and check out the forums there and see if you find anything
