Fog Light Question

Ok, I've been himming and hawing about getting Fog Lights for my 98 Sahara.

I think it is pre-wired for fog lights. The wiring harness for the blinkers has an extra plug that I assume is for fog lights?

My center bezel has a fog light switch that has power running to it (the light turns on if I switch it).

Basically, my question is...Is the plug on my signal wiring harness for fog lights? If so, will installing the fog lights be a quick and easy plug and mount process?

Yes, and yes.

Just don't run anything over 55W, unless you use the OEM harness as an on/off power to a relay. then run the power to the lights off the battery.

Don't need fog lights that are super blinding so I will keep it 55w or less, thanks!

I just did this for my 2005 Unlimited. I bought an inexpensive pair of OEM fog lights through this forum, and they plug right into that "extra" plug you've got there - and they're plug and play IF your plug happens to be clean. If it's been dangling there for a bit, you may need to spend some time cleaning it. I have a thread on that at the moment if you need advice on how to best go about it.

I appreciate it Abby! It has been hanging there for about 5 years, including offroading sessions. I bet its squeaky clean! haha

Honestly, I am going to look for corrosion first. If it is corroded, I will just go to Howbill's (our local Jeep used parts dealer), buy a plug, and just splice in.

I've had to do it a couple times already for my blinkers, so it should be a cake walk. Thanks for the input everyone!

I've got the OEM fog lights that came factory.. and I love them. They are durable and really do help in rain/snow/fog. They show the sides of the road and bring the lines to life.

Wow, to me they were pathetic

My brother broke one of mine when a rubbermaid lid came off a box he had on his trailer, and caught me square in the foglight.

I honestly think I expected too much out of them...but the KC clones I have meet those expectations...however I think they might blind others, so I don't use them often.

Do the KC clones plug right into the factory plugs?

I had the same problem and bought a new Electronic Flasher and that solved my problem. The only down side to it is the EF is about $30 at a part store and the part itselft is about 2 inches in size.

I bought the el cheapo Harbor freight clone, and I just added some spades on the end, and plugged them right in...Its not as nice as the OEM plug, but you could, if so inclined reuse the OEM plug on the new foglights.

FWIW, they cost 20 bucks. they light up, and if I smash them on something I won't cry. oh and the KC smilies fit on them nicely...I really got them b/c the smilies make me laugh.

Mine is a Daylighter clone, not the one listed above. so it doesn't have the OEM style plug on the wiring.

I didn't cut up my Foglights, as I do plan on selling the one good one, once I get around to it.

I used a 20% off coupon as seen in Motortrend and other misc magazines.

I bought a set of Hella's and installed them Saturday. Thanks to everyone that helped me out. It was a breeze.

(Except when my black wire splice came undone after heat shrinking and taping)
