Found some type of oil on my rear wheel

I noticed a light coating of some type of fluid on one of my rear wheels. What could it be? Brake fluid? I removed the brake fluid lid on the resivour yesterday, but wouldn't think that would do anything.

Probably gear oil from a leaky axle seal, but it could be brake fluid from a leaky wheel cylinder/caliper.

x2 on the rear axle seal. Same thing happened to mine. There are a few threads on here that will help you replace it. Fortunately mine was still under warranty when it happened.

wipe some on your finger if it stinks really bad and doesn't want to wash away from your finger its gear oil. if it washes away but makes the finger feel a little dry its brake fluid.

(or you could just yank the wheel/drum and have a look-see.)
