Unhappy Frame rust

I have a 2000 wrangler 89,000 miles. It appears to be in great shape but it won't pass PA inspection because of rust on the rear of the frame. The rear of frame is in pretty bad shape, the mechanic said it is unsafe. Should I have the parts fabricated or does anyone offer a kit to weld it up. I want to make it safe and pass inspection.

That really sucks to only have 89k and be rusted that bad. Where in PA are you from. I live near Chambersburg.

I'm 20 miles south of Philly. The Jeep came from northern New Jersey. I bought it in the spring, my first Jeep. I loved it, so I bought a 2008 unlimited. I love them both.

I've seen quite a few Jeeps with either plates welded on their frames to shore them up or whole new frame sections welded in (especially the last section from the suspension to the bumper). I have no idea how safe it is, I would assume that is very much dependent on the skill of the person welding. I think either JCW or Quadratech sells short frame pieces for that purpose.....
