Front diff ring and pinion issues

This is the second time this has happened within the last 3 months.

4.0 engine
Dana 30 front
35" tires
4.56 gears
Upgraded Yukon axle shafts and ring and pinion (same material, not chromoly)
Installed by a reputable transmission shop so I'd hesitate in saying they didn't know what they were doing when they installed it.

I understand that I'm running what is considered the max tire, however, with the upgraded axle shafts and ring and pinion working in conjunction with each other I'm a little shocked that it happened again. Also, the shop mentioned that having the auto locker in there adds a good amount of stress to the front diff. Is this true? Enough to be catastrophic?

Yikes! What exactly are you doing when this happens? I would strongly suspect the gear install. Maybe it's time to upgrade to a high pinion D30 and have a different shop do the install...

I'm having a different shop do it this time around. I was attempting to get out of a V shaped "creek" and when going back up and out of the creek the front tires were spinning and trying to get traction. Then "pop, pop, pop, pop". Sounds bad, but I assure you it wasn't anything to the point where you'd think this kind of damage would happen.

Do you have a pic that shows the whole pumpkin from straight on? Just curious what everything else looks like...

Looks like gear install wrong maybe back lash was too great looks like pinion was too far away but 35" on a dana 30 35 is pushing those axles to the max

Why does it look like the inside of your diff is full of dirty water?
