Unhappy Front passenger seat doesn't slide forward?

So I bought my first vehicle in May of this year, a beauty of a Jeep. Its a blue 2001 TJ that had been babied by the original owner and as a result runs and looks damn near perfect. Unfortunately, about a week ago, my boyfriend got out and went to let out a passenger from the back, and said something about the seat but didn't elaborate until later. Long story short, the tab on the seat now does not put the seat into the normal upright position to allow people to get in and out of the back. It leans the seat forward but does not move it forward. Basically now my passengers have to climb through the back-window gap of my soft top (Its a tedious job to install with the way the zippers work ) or pull the passenger seat up and use the tab on the back of the seat to incline it forward and squeeze through that way. My boyfriend, who has his own 2003 Rubicon, keeps saying he'll take a look and fix it but it just hasn't yet happened and its just getting annoying whenever I'm driving around with friends. Hopefully someone can give me some insight

No idea if any of these pictures help but I figured I'd include some anyways.

Once you have the seat back folded forward, push down on it an try to pull the seat forward. That's how mine worked until I ripped that black tab off by accident LOL. Other than that I would say to make sure there is not something lodged under the seat.

That black tab just pulls a cable which is connected to a lever under the seat. It's common for the cable to snap. You can still fold and tumble the seat by pushing on the lever under the seat.

This may help.

Jeep Wrangler Seat Track Release Cable Repair

I did not order the cable from the dealer though. I bought the parts at a local bike shop for $5.00 and fixed it by replacing the cable.

I've got two things, first of all try moving it all the way back first then pulling with force the whole way through. Nobody can get my seat forward cause they're afraid to really yank it lol. Also if that's not it try loosening the bolts the seat is attached with. in doing so pull the seat all the way up then tighten the bolts down again to the floor. When I put my seats back in I noticed the frame the seat was on was actually collapsing when I tightened the bolts and the seat was all the way back thus I could not physically move the seat all the way up!

looks to me like ur cable is still attached in last photo.. that jack under seat needs to go.. it's supposed to be strapped down to bracket under rear of seat. if u feel under the seat along the consel side u'll feel a lever that the cable attaches to(last pic shows cable adjuster near front-underseat), u can push down on that to do the same thing the release strap does, but u'd still have to remove that ft. jack..

Why would the jack have to be removed?

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! I'll look into them tomorrow morning. And the reason that the jack is secured really awkward is my boyfriend used it to change a tire one late night and I was really tired so just kinda made it snug and havent touched it since
