Front Seat wont lift forward, any ideas for a home fix?

Great forum. Thanks for all the help so far.
I am having a problem with my front passenger seat. The seat will slide along its tracks but will not lift, any suggestions on a solution for a home repair?

Thanks.

I was having the same issue with mine, until i realised i had to get my hand under the seat and push on a small trigger (i don't know if it's the right word in english but nevermind ) to lift it. This "trigger" is approximately in the center of the seat, under it.

Sounds like the cable from the lever on the upper edge of the seat back either broke or came off.

I founs this link with a seat fix, unfortunately that was not my problem, the cable was tight and still in place. perhaps it will help someone out there though.
