Question Fuel Filter Location

Hi Guys

I have a '97 4.0 and I would like to know where exactly the filter is. Is there only the one inside the tank?
Cheers
Gerald

Yes its in the tank , I just replaced mine last week. The filter is at the bottom of the pump , its$ 9.99 at auto parts store. The aftermarket fuel pump is $220.00 at Oriellys auto parts. Its ez but it takes 2 people. And make sure you run most of your gas out of the tank. It makes it much easier to handle.

Check with your dealer, there is a recall on the fuel filter/sending unit. I got mine replaced for free in my 97 4.0.

That's only the "sock" pre-filter you changed. The actual fuel filter is located on top of the fuel pump and regulator assembly, inside the can on top of the regulator.

How frequently do the filter and/or the sock need to be replaced?
