Fuel gauge not registering full

So after I replaced my fuel tank skid, I noticed that the fuel gauge didn't read full after I filled the jeep. I didn't think too much about it because the tank was almost empty when I installed the skid. After a few tanks now, and the gauge still doesn't read full. What did I do when I installed the skid? The gauge now reads between an 1/8 and a 1/16 under full after filling it. Maybe the float got moved out of adjustment? I'm stumped on this one. Thank you in advance.

Are you letting your Jeep idle while you put in the fuel? If you don't shut your Jeep off at the gas pump, it won't register full even after you've filled the tank. At least that's how mine is.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the jeep is off at the pump. Maybe mine was reliable until now, I'll search the forum.
