Fuel Pressure Problems?

I think that this problem is related to fuel pressure but not sure. Here was the situation:

Was on a road trip in my 2005 Jeep TJ to South Carolina. I had pulled into a shopping center that had a gas station in it. When I stopped at the stop sign and began to accelerate, the Jeep shuddered, the shut off.

I know that I wasn't out of gas because the needle had just starting touching the red mark half way between 1/4 and empty. Any ideas???

Check engine light?
Have you pulled the codes yet?

Also the way the pick up on the fuel pump is designed on the TJ's it's not always good to let it go under a 1/4 tank. They sometimes like to suck air after that. Not very common but does happen.

First pull the codes to see it you have any electircal or injector issues.
Then clean out the throttle body and the IAC.

Did you get it restarted? Did you have to let it sit awhile?

It could be lots of things - many won't set a code.
It's no wonder the country is falling apart - stupidity abounds!

First off, thanks for replying!! Second, no, i haven't checked for codes yet but that is a good idea. And yes, I had to let it sit for about 10 seconds, then it barely started back up. luckily I was about 100 feet from the nearest gas pump.

Another question I have is, what can I do to keep the engine cooler? After that incident happened and popped the hood, I couldn't believe the heat comng off the engine. I'm not mechanicly inclined but I figure it supposed to be hot, but I wanted to know know what might be worth doing.

Thanks again.
