two weeks ago i was on a night run with our club and at midnight i had a short and a battery fire. this cought the main wire harness from the PDC(power dist. center) on fire. in turn this melted most of the insulation in this group. after a on the trail repair ( disconect battery, locate cause of short, tape all wire) the fuel pump would not run. we pulled relay and using a jumper, bypassed relay. jeep started and finshed run.now its time to fix for real, repaired all wires and new battery, but the ground to the fuel relay is not grounded. when the jeep is turned on, the hot side has current, but no ground on ground side. is there a fuel pump shut off relay? if so, where is it? i believe when the wires lost insulation current shorted to the fuel pump relay ground, maybe shorting it? as a quick fix, i connected the ground wire to ground, but this makes the pump run continually when the key is on. i dont remember if this is how it worked before or did it shut off
when pressure is reach?
