Im going on my 3rd replacement in 2 years of my electric fuel pump! last one one replaced on 8/16/14! any recommendations of a QUALITY part to buy? Bosch? should i get the part from NAPA? because they seem to have quality parts compared to auto zone and pep boys! any help would be appreciated!

I dropped my tank to replace the skid plate. I noticed there were absolutely no fuel filters from my pump to my fuel rails in my 97. Maybe try a fuel pump strainer filter and an in line fuel filter, might help with the longevity. I also washed my tank out with a hose then sat it in the sun to dry to clean it. I want to switch to an inline Walbro fuel pump and a 32 gal tank.

Agree on the recommendations for Bosch or Mopar, make sure not to go with an Airtex or Spectra. I wouldn't touch any fuel pump from a store like Autozone. Get a complete assembly which includes the fuel pressure regulator which also serves as the fuel system's primary inline fuel filter. Not everyone is aware the fuel filter is inside it.

The pumps are probably fine, or were. I would check out the electrical connections to the pump too. Even clean the ground and the fuse(clean tabs).

If the connections are dirty in any of the connections from the battery that could be dropping the voltage to the pump, causing the current to increase essentially burning out the pump.

I would check your pressure regulator too, it might be working the pump too hard. Hope that helps narrow it down. Let us know if you get it figured Tomas?
