Fuel Pump/Starting Problem

Replaced fuel pump couple months ago - ran fine - couple weeks ago the plastic portion of fuel line came off under the hood (excess pressure? or old line) spraying all over. Since then, Jeep is hard to start, seems like not getting enough fuel pressure. Any ideas - Thanks

or it could be a crappy pump... did it have trouble starting right after the line came off or before it?

The problems started right after the line came off. After the problem began the Jeep wouldn't start after sitting for an hour or more. It started fine if it was only off 30 minutes or so. If I turned the ignition on and off to cycle the pump about 4-5 times it would start easily. Thanks
