Fuel Sock?

05 TJ 6 speed. 4.0. Question is could a stopped up fuel sock happen to throw misfire codes and 02 lean codes? Just randomly dies going down road. I've replaced all sensors that gave me codes. Reset PCM and throwing same codes and still doing same thing. Thanks for any inquiry on this. -JLP

I think it could. Basically starving for fuel. Or fuel pump itself is checking out.

No such thing as a fuel shock. What codes do you have?

ok. With regards to the filter, unless you have had tons of crap put in your gas tank, the filter is not normally replaced.

Exactly what sensors have you replaced? The first thing I think of when someone says their engine randomly dies is the CPS (crankshaft position sensor). After the CPS, I start wondering about the fuel pump itself.

I strongly doubt the problem is being caused by a clogged fuel filter or fuel pump pre-strainer/sock.

I've replaced the CPS and the two downstream 02s. This thing does have an aftermarket stroker in it. Could the injectors be too small? I don't think that's it but I'm no mechanic. Maybe computer?

Thanks guys. I got it to my mechanic and now he is troubleshooting it. He seems to think it is fuel related so we shall see.

Okay so the jeep is still at the mechanic. I do not feel as stupid now because he is a well known mechanic. He cannot seem to figure it out. Jeep fuel system is good. Jeep will idle all day long. Take off it sputters and stalls. It does it now at low speeds where used to it did it going at hwy speeds. He did say he wanted to put a scope in and look around crankshaft. He said for some reason cps is not getting any signal causing this issue. I put a cps sensor in it and so has he. Still has same issue!!!! What now? What's next? Computer?

Let me ask this dumb question, ok, if the jeep does not have the factory key (chipped) would this cause this? I bought the jeep used and I got two keys with it in which were not originals and did not contain chip. Bought I from a dealer. I was wondering if this is the case how did it run flawless on the way home? I think i maybe onto something but I don't know!

When you start it, does an amber key symbol with a circle and a slash through it, illuminate for a brief, few seconds?

Just learned today the jeep I bought has an aftermarket stroker motor. Mechanic talked like he believes it is the jeep PCM needing to be reprogrammed and reflashed. I hope this solves all of my issues with the jeep because nothing else has worked as of yet to get it running correctly.

it was a throttle position sensor bad causing all of my issues.
