Fuel Tank Evap port

99 4.0 5sp: While tracing down my emissions leak I found a 3/16 rubber fuel line laying on top of my tank. The end of the hose had a broken plastic nipple sticking out of it. I'm concluding this nipple broke off the drivers side breather component when the PO replaced the fuel pump assembly. I cant find any evidence that this breather part is something I can purchase separately and replace on my tank. Can anyone tell me if this is something I can buy or do I have to replace the entire tank?

About the only advise I can give is if you have the broken part is if you can find something hollow that will fit inside the fitting cut a short piece then slide the 2 pieces together where the fit (broken parts lined up) then Use some JB Quick & repair them that way,Possibly a piece of a Bic pen Think the inner part that holds the ink you should only need a piece 1/2 to 3/4" long

Great suggestion. I've been searching for a week and there's just nothing out there other than a replacement tank. Looks like I'll be fabricating! Thanks for the reply.

Hey,
On the top of the tank there should be 2 vents connected by 1/4 rubbing. The piece you find should connect to that with an angled "T" fitting. They told me it would take a week to order so I got a 1/4" T, some additional 1/4"fuel line, and a 1/4 to 3/16 adapter. If you have the tank down you will see what I am talking about. If not shout me a pm and I will give you a number so you can give me a shout. I just broke that 2 weeks ago.

Hey JeepPO - are you saying those vents are something that I can purchase? If so, where did you find them?

I now see what ypu are saying. My T connector is what is broken, not the actual vent. I didnt realize the 2 side vents were daisy chained together and then porte out through the little T. This is a cheap fix and probably available at local parts store. Thanks again!

You got it. I couldn't find the 1/4x1/4-3/16 so went with a 1/4x1/4x1/4 "T" and a reducer with a little extra 1/4 fuel line. They also have them in plumbing shops but you need hose clamps.

Ended up doing the exact same thing. Nobody makes the 1/4 1/4 3/16 Y. I replaced the hoses on top of the tank as well since it was down. I also replaced the short fuel pump hose. I made that from parts I was able to get from Auto Zone. I painted the tub and frame with rustoleum and am undercoating with Fluid Film tonight. This 99 has zero rust on the body so im hoping to keep it that way. Hoping to have everything buttoned up by nightfall.
