Gas Mileage Question

So this may be a question with an obvious answer, but I just got my jeep so i dont have a clue... do you get better mpg's with the top off or on? I have a soft top which I've been keeping on, but I'm going for a long trip tomorrow, and didnt know which way would be more fuel efficient.
I appreciate the help

Top on.

Who cares, if it's nice out top down. Why but a jeep and worry about a mile or two. It's for the fun factor.

I agree, on a nice beautifull day top off, who's cares about a couple mpg, it's a JEEP not a prius!

you can make up for the couple MPGs lost from the top being down by slowing down the speed. top down and above 65mph and the MPGs drop preaty fast. top down and arround 60mph and I get 19MPG.
the extra time from going slower dosnt bother me, I try and keep in mind it's the journey and the destanation that makes trips great... so put the top down and put some rock n roll on the box and enjoy life!!!
