There is a write up on how to drop the tank and cut the tube shorter and make it a 19 gal. Hows that for Chrysler making a buck on upgrades? Same tank, same skid, same pump, different tube installed on the assembly line, and probably part of a package that cost hundreds more.

if you are filling up and seeing 14+ gallons, you have the 19 gallon. I have driven mine through the warning light, to the needle being lower than the E, to the point of weighting my options on how I am going to get to the gas station, who am I gonna call for help etc...and only been able to get 12.5/13 gal in when finally filling.
I had a YJ and did the 19 gallon mod. But the writeup I used said that TJ are actual different size tanks.

And yes, she has been warned repeatedly that if she runs out of fuel, call someone else.
Same here. I take the light as more of a suggestion than anything else.

Violence may not be the answer but it sure cuts down on the stupid questions

I never knew wranglers had a low fuel light.I ran out of fuel twice in my 1998 Wrangler. Both times the fuel gauge read between 1/4 and 1/2 tank........ After that fill ups can at 1/2 tank......

Old thread, but I recently when I had a bunch of time at the gas station decided to see how much I could get in it. 18.9 gallons believe me or not I even kept the receipt, but I could not have put another drop in if I wanted too.
2000 Sahara, 3.5" Rubicon Express Lift, 1" spring spacer & 1" Body Lift, 33" or 35" BFG Mud tires, Front & Rear ARB, Rancho 9000 shocks, UCF Ultra High Belly Up, Savvy gas tank skid.

Fuel Tanks size and fill up issue

The below is tank part numbers are the size of GAL= tank no matter what your build sheet says. I have a 99TJ and thought it was a 19 Gal but the part number on tank and cross reference to below chart shows it is a 15.Gal. Now I know why 11.5 gals is the max I can get in tank at fill up.

EP0=All 2.5L Gas Engines
ER0= All 4.0L Gas Engines
TANK, Fuel

52018 687AB 1 EP0, 15 Gallon

52018 768AB 1 EP0, 19 Gallon, 1998 TJ, 1999 TJ

52018 768AC 1 EP0, 19 Gallon, 1997 TJ
