I recently bough a 99 tj sport, I was told it probably had 373 gears. I looked at the diff tag and it shows 307s. Does this sould right, it currently has the rubicon wheels and tires on it 245/75 16, 5th gear is useless going up hills on the highway, Im thinking of putting on 33s, what ratio would be best?
What motor and axle in the rear please. If you want you can run out put the rear on jack stands. mark the tire and driveshaft. Turn the tire 1 full rotation while counting how many turns the driveshaft makes. I am guess if it is a 4.0l it is 3.07s with the 35 rear.

It has a 4.0. Would a programer like (edge etc.) make a big difference? I have a k&n drop in filter and magnaflow muffler. I was thinking about the trail master 4 in lift, good price. Any suggestions? I dont plan on any hardcore offroading, 98% street drivin. Thanks
Yep don't waste your hard-earned $$$ for a programmer, K&N, etc. as they don't make any performance improvements for a TJ. Regearing to a lower axle ratio is the only way to restore the performance lost due to having installed larger diameter tires.
