gear shifter

anybody know how to take the gear shift knob off a 99 tj?

take a knife or screw driver and pop the cap that has the shift pattern on it, then take off the nut.

thanks, i'm gonna get me an 8-ball knob and get rid of the factory one. i've always liked the 8-ball knob, but i didn't want to tear anything up trying to take the old knob off.

yeah you'll be fine just prying the cap off, but make sure you get the right size knob because i believe there are different sizes

shuv the screw driver in there, pry the thing out

remove the nut, then unscrew the knob.


hope not to end up like this


if the new knob doesnt work out, when you wanna put the stoker back in there, put the cap on so its somewhat seated, put the screw driver on the one end and press it in.
