Gear swap problems!

Hello to everyone. Sorry for my first post being a request for help, but I need some info. I am trying to change to 4.10 gears. The rear changed out fine with the donor parts after I realized the whole center section had to be changed. The front however has different bearings, mine had a crush collar, the other didn't, the other one had shims on the pinion, mine didn't, etc. The donor axle has the vaccum disconnect, mine doesn't. My Jeep is a 1997 with a 6 cyl. Can I change the bearing or anything to make this work? Thanks for any input.

The gears you obtained from the donor axle that has a vacuum disconnect are likely from a high-pinion Dana 30 and the gears between a high-pinion D30 and low pinion D30 like the TJ has are not interchangable. A high pinion D30 uses reverse cut gears, the TJ's low pinion D30 uses standard cut gears.

The donor axles came from a 1995 Wrangler.

Do you know what years will swap? I can't really afford to buy new and I will also need the right replacement carrier to change from 307 gears to 4.10. Are any Cherokee axles the same. Thanks for the info thus far.

Cherokees have high pinion axles too, I would try to find a D30 out of a TJ.

It will be much easier to get a TJ axle. Besides, those YJ axles had that problematic vacuum motor. As I recall the pumpkin is on the wrong side also.
